# Getting to Ha Giang and the loop by bus

## Short Answer

Ha Giang is reached only by road, without a railway. Buses and limousine vans from Hanoi and Noi Bai airport take about 5 to 6 hours 30 minutes, from 260,000₫ for October 2026, and night buses arrive between about 03:00 and 06:00. From Sapa it is about 6 hours (350,550₫ with Bằng Phấn), from Ninh Binh 8 to 9 hours; buses end at company offices, hostels or the bus station, so the ticket decides where you get off.

## Quick Facts

- Region: Far north; Tuyên Quang province, which absorbed Hà Giang province on 1 July 2025
- Usual way in: Bus or limousine van from Hanoi, Noi Bai, Sapa or Ninh Binh

## By bus from Hanoi, Sapa or Ninh Binh

**From Hanoi or Noi Bai airport.** About 5 to 6 hours 30 minutes by sleeper, cabin bus or limousine van; the [Hanoi to Ha Giang page](/hanoi-to-ha-giang/) compares the companies and pickups. Day buses arrive in the afternoon; buses leaving between 21:00 and 23:45 arrive at about 03:00 to 06:00, which suits a loop tour that starts at dawn and not much else.

**From Sapa.** About 6 hours on Bằng Phấn's cabin bus or limousine, office to office, or Sao Viet's cabin bus to Delapong Homestay. See the section below.

**From Ninh Binh.** 8 to 9 hours, by day or overnight, from Bến xe Đồng Gừng or the Tam Coc boat station.

Bằng Phấn's own June 2026 guide puts its Ha Giang office at **100 Trần Phú**, separate from Bến xe Hà Giang (Ha Giang bus station). Other companies drop at their own offices or at hostels where loop tours start.

## Leaving after the loop

**Back to Hanoi.** Buses leave from about 05:45 to 23:10 (October 2026), so there is one whatever time your tour ends; many go straight to Noi Bai airport.

**Night buses to Sapa or Ninh Binh** arrive at midnight or before dawn: Bằng Phấn's 18:00 to Sapa reaches 599 Điện Biên Phủ at 00:00, and its 19:30 to Ninh Binh reaches Bến xe Đồng Gừng at 03:30. Book a bed for that night or take the morning departure.

**Booking direct with Bằng Phấn.** Its June 2026 notice says direct bookings are non-refundable, changes need 3 to 5 hours' notice, and at most two changes are allowed within seven days. A motorbike in the hold costs extra and depends on space; ask on 1900 9389.

Tickets bought online carry that seller's own cancellation terms.
